May 15, 2012
This day is referred to as "Yom Hanakba" by the Arabs or the day of tragedy when the State of Israel was born 64 years ago.  The enemies of Israel forget that the "Partition Plan" was rejected outright by the Moslems and the "Two State Solution" was rejected as the armies of all of the Arab nations around the Land of Israel, and inside continued to try to finish off what Hitler and the Nazis began. Sadly even inside of Israel and even members of the Israeli Knesset today continue to selectively refer to this as a day of tragedy and will not accept the truth that Israel had accepted the partition and the Arabs did not.

Important Terrorism Events – Israel's South

This past week one rocket hit was identified in Israeli territory. The rocket fell in an empty area in the western Negev. There were no casualties and no damage was done.

Judea and Samaria

The Situation on the Ground

Recently there has been an increase in terrorist activity and riots in Judea and Samaria, reflected by the growing numbers Palestinians detained by IDF forces and of IEDs seized. There has also been an increase in the number of violent demonstrations in which rioters confronted IDF forces. The village of Betunia (south of Ramallah) has recently become a focal point of violent demonstrations (IDF Spokesman, May 15, 2012).

Nakba Day Events

Throughout the week Palestinians have marked Nakba Day with a series of events in Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip, and in other countries. So far the events are apparently local in character and the dominant theme, as in previous years, is the  socalled "right of return." Initial reports of the events are the following:
Judea and Samaria: The main rally was held in Ramallah. At 12 noon sirens were heard for 64 seconds. Demonstrations, marches and rallies were also held in various other cities. During the day young men, some of them masked, threw stones at IDF forces and set fire to tires at various locations in Judea and Samaria (IDF Spokesman, May 15, 2012).

That's it.

Not very adequate, comprehensive or detailed.

And today:

...according to a report in the Tazpit agency...terrorists hurled at least 10 firebombs at a road near the Arab village of Az-Zawiya, southeast of Kalkilye. No injuries or damage were reported. Earlier on Wednesday, security forces arrested two Arabs who were armed with knives at the Yitzhar junction. IDF forces also captured an Arab with a gun near the community of Ofra. The gun was confiscated and the Arab was arrested. In addition, PA Arabs hurled rocks at Israeli vehicles traveling on Route 55 near Azzun. Two vehicles sustained damage. IDF soldiers searched the area and discovered a pipe bomb. As the soldiers were conducting the search, Arabs fired flares at them, causing some thorns to catch fire. Firefighters were called to the scene.
In another incident in the Trans-Samaria Highway, Arabs threw a firebomb at an Israeli vehicle. The vehicle did not sustain damage. IDF soldiers who arrived on the scene discovered two additional firebombs ready for throwing.
The latest incidents occurred just one day after two Arabs from Palestinian Authority enclaves were arrested trying to smuggle four pipe bombs, an improvised gun, and a large amount of ammunition into Israel on Tuesday...
